TWC 414: Visualizing data & information Final Call to Action Infographic
The work: An infographic with a minimum of 3 visualizations using a public data set in support of an argument. This graphic focuses on communication of a call to action supported by public data, all of which contextualize, support, and corroborate the claim suggested with a minimum of 50 words. All graphics and vector images were designed and edited within Illustrator.
Tools used:
Adobe Illustrator
Vector graphics editor and design software developed by Adobe. Designed for professional use but many beginners use it due to it universal acceptance and professional capabilities.
This tool was used to edit graphs developed in excel through tedious research using multiple government websites including the Arkansas department of health, March of Dimes, and national historical statistics of death among infants in Arkansas. I was able to pull large amounts of data into easily understandable at a glance format. I also use the Adobe tool to design and create the graphics used to support the infographic and invoke an emotional response with my viewer. Special consideration was taken to not to skew data.
Excel
A spreadsheet program developed by Microsoft designed to organize, calculate, and format data. An exceptional tool in developing large data sets into various formats for clearer analysis and translation. This tool was used to develop the graphs and translate large data sets into easy to understandable information glance. It was essential tool to translate the large format data downloaded.
